Back to School Physics

In this 4 week course we will have a broad outline in physics with particular emphasis on kinematic, force, and momentum equations. This class overlaps with Physics 1 which is more in-depth.

Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
This class will be a high school physics class covering kinematics, forces, and momentum.
The class will be structured with 3 classes each week for 50 minutes a period.  There will be some presentation, some problem solving and practice,
My teaching style flexible with a mix of instruction, independent practice, examples, videos, and discussion
Students will interact with me as much as possible.  There will be some direct instruction, some discussion, some math practice
Students should at least have some 6th grade math skills.  Skills such as multiplication, division, fractions, proportions, powers, square roots, single variable equations, and 6th grade reading skills.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about the scientific method, calculation, models, and basic physics.

Dimensional Analysis
 Unit Conversions. Perhaps one of the single most useful skills in science

 An introduction to how we measure distance, movement and time.

 How we measure a change in velocity

No sensitive topics, but ballistic motion and collisions will be covered
Pre-Requisites
This class assumes a basic understanding of simple equations. For example, if a car went 30 meters in 5 seconds, what is the speed of the car?

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
