Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 5
In this 3-day class students will be taught one priority math skill lesson a day. The first day will be a lesson on multiplication by two or more digits (EX: 1,342 x 6 or 32 x 64). On the second day, students will be taught division of 3 or more digits (164 ÷ 8 or 3879 ÷ 9). The last day of the class will be a lesson on finding equivalent fractions in order to add and subtract fractions. In my sixteen years of teaching elementary math, I have seen many different math strategies and I am prepared to help students where they are academically with the strategy they are learning to solve for division. I am keeping this class small so that I can give the attention that is needed to guide and support the students through these priority math skills.

DAY 1:
Multiply 1-digit numbers by 3-digit or 4-digit numbers.
Multiply 2-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers.

DAY 2:
Divide up to 4-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers.

DAY 3
Find equivalent fractions for adding and subtracting fractions.

DAY 4
Decimal concepts with tenths, hundredths, and thousandths with models and standard form practice.

Please see prior knowledge to assure this class is suited correctly for your child's learning. Message me with questions as needed.
Learning Goals
Multiply 1-digit numbers by 3-digit or 4-digit numbers.
Multiply 2-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers.
Divide up to 4-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers.
Find equivalent fractions for adding and subtracting fractions.
Identify decimals and see their equivalence.
Add and subtract decimals.

****Students should be at an average speed with their multiplication facts prior to taking this course. I offer three different multiplication fact classes to build fact fluency. This class will only frustrate students if they already struggle greatly with multiplication facts.
