Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
During this self-paced class, I will share two recordings that teach students how to draw a Thanksgiving scene. I will start each recording with fun holiday facts, accompanied by pictures. I will then give step-by-step instructions on how to create the drawing.

During each recording, I have two screens visible so that students can see me drawing, as well as speaking. This will allow learners to follow along with my instructions. I will break each step down, so artists of all levels are welcome! Students will have the ability to pause each recording, as they need and choose which days during the week they complete their drawings.

Students can replicate my drawing or add their own unique elements. I will also discuss ideas for the background. After completing their drawing, students can color in their drawing with the medium of their choice, such as crayons, markers, or colored pencils.

The drawings are 19 minutes and 35 minutes and don't include coloring time. See the 𝙎𝙮𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙪𝙨 section for more information.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗮 "𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱” 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸?
There are no live sessions. Learners have access to two pre-recorded lessons. Discussions with the teacher take place via messages. The teacher will provide a quick recording giving positive feedback on each drawing shared. Please reach out if you need more time, and I'm happy to extend the end-date before the class ends.

Lesson 1:
Baby Yoda as a Turkey
You'll learn facts about turkeys and then draw Baby Yoda in a turkey costume. I will spend a few minutes discussing fun Turkey facts. I will then spend about 15 minutes demonstrating how to draw Baby Yoda in a turkey costume. I will include some additional turkey facts as we draw. After the recording, student can take some time to color in their drawing and upload their finished pictures. I send back a recording giving positive feedback on all submitted work.
Lesson 2:
Pikachu and Snoopy Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloons
I will start the recording with a short history of the Thanksgiving Day Parade. The history will include pictures of popular balloons and floats over the years. Next, I will give step-by-step instructions on how to draw Pikachu and Snoopy. Once the balloons are complete, we will draw a city building, using a two-point perspective drawing method. A ruler or straight edge is recommended.

𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼! My name is Colleen, or Mrs. Smith, and I am excited to work with your student in my online classroom! I have been teaching on Outschool since September 2021 and am thrilled to continue this journey.

My Outschool offerings encompass two distinctive fields:

1) 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀: I was a commercial banker for three years and enjoyed a ten-year corporate buying career. During that time, I had the opportunity to train many people on using Microsoft Excel and other relevant programs. I was also able to volunteer in a high school classroom, teaching financial literacy to students. For the past 3+ year, I have been teaching these skills and concepts to students on Outschool. It is such a pleasure to see students master these important life skills.

2) 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗸é𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀: As a child, my favorite subject was art, and I continued taking art classes in college and as an adult. My own children, aged 9, 6, and 4 years, share my love of art, and for the past four years, I have enjoyed staying at home with my them. Their specific interests are Pokémon and animals, and in turn I have a true appreciation for these subjects!

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲?
My classes are very interactive, with many opportunities for participation. However, I understand that some learners prefer to listen. I am always willing to adjust my classes to fit everyone's needs. My classes will always have real-life examples that are relatable to students. I want students to be happy with their work and interested in what they're learning, so questions and sharing are welcome and encouraged!
