Axolotls Are Awesome! + Show and Tell!

Axolotl's are incredible animals!  Together, we will discover everything there is to know about the coolest amphibian in the world!  Did you know that they are illegal to own in California?  Or that they never grow up?

Did you know that they can grow their body parts back?  Or that they don’t metamorphosis into an adult salamander?  That’s right!  They remain in the larvae body their entire lives!  Scientists can force them to undergo the transformation into an adult salamander, but it comes with risks, which we will cover in class.  

We will also cover the difference between reptiles and amphibians, the history of the Axolotl, lifestyle, habitat, adaptations, reproduction, and the reasons why they are facing extinction in the wild.  Don’t worry though, they are thriving in captivity, and will be here for a long time yet!

We will start class with a super cute video, and end class with trivia!  Your child is going to come away from this an axolotl expert!  

After class, I have designed a special Kahoot! On axolotls which can serve as a review of the material we are going to learn in class!  It is optional though, so no pressure!
