Class Experience
Earth day is upon us - but understanding and protecting the environment is an every day issue. This FLEX class explores one type of eco-system under threat - the wetland. What is a wetland? Why are wetlands so essential to the health of our environment? Why are our wetlands disappearing? What kind of animals live there? This class is taught in English.
To be able to reflect upon human impact upon the different wetland environments (such as ponds, bogs, marshes and swamps). To be able to understand which animals and plants live in the wetland environment. To be able to understand that we have a responsibility to look after our wetlands for the sake of future generations. To grow in confidence in reading comprehension and writing.
I am an experienced primary / elementary school teacher and head of year with over 20 years in the classroom. I have taught in London, North Africa and the Middle East and am now based in the U.S. With many years of experience and enjoy helping children progress in their academic journey. I pride myself on ensuring that the materials are educational and engaging and that children leave the lesson knowing more than they started. Progressing and moving forward with confidence. There will be weekly homework
Children may use a notebook to jot down ideas. Markers or coloring pencils for creative activities. Access to a camera that can record responses or film video responses Art supplies for creative homework choices.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Children will be assessed as I would in the classroom. I will also be feeding back to parents.
