Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 5
This is a fun class where learners will explore different aspects of writing. Each week will have a different focus with an after class activity attached and available in the classroom. Children can upload their work and interact with each other so that they can share their amazing writing. Learners will be supported with writing frames and vocabulary back and also videos uploaded to the classroom to help develop their writing skills.

Each lesson is a stand alone lesson and does not build upon the previous lesson so learners can join at any point as each lesson focuses on individual skills.

All about story openers:

This class will focus on how to write a great story starter through action, dialogue or description.
In this class, students will learn about compelling story starters that grab the reader's attention and set the stage for an exciting story. I will guide and scaffold discussion so that students will develop their skills in crafting vivid descriptions. The class will also cover the basics of genre-specific story starters and how to tailor your opening to the type of story your learner would want to tell. By the end of the class, students will have the beginnings of a toolbox of techniques for writing effective story starters that can be applied to a wide variety of writing projects. Lots of discussion and guidance is given in the class so that after the lesson - learners can set about writing! See you there!

I am an experienced primary / elementary school teacher and head of year with over 20 years in the classroom. I have taught in London, North Africa and the Middle East and am now based in the U.S. With many years of experience and enjoy helping children progress in their academic journey. I pride myself on ensuring that the materials are educational and engaging and that children leave the lesson knowing more than they started. Progressing and moving forward with confidence. I am looking forward to you joining me!

I have a particular interest in helping reluctant writers (and readers) to achieve and been fortunate enough to have worked in schools that have provided lots of in-house and outside specialist training and courses to help us apply the most effective strategies.
