Class Experience

Students will learn how to safely use cooking utensils and operate an air fryer while learning about ingredients while preparing simple recipes.
I have a ten-year-old son with autism that I teach how to cook using an air fryer.
Each week prior to class, a recipe handout (or link) will be provided to allow students enough time to gather ingredients. The recipes will focus on ingredients that are commonly found in most homes. Here are the standard materials students will need: *Air fryer (any size) *Air fryer accessories (i.e. pan, rack, etc.) *Measuring cup (or individual measuring cups) *Measuring spoons *Eggs (or egg substitute) *All-purpose flour *Sugar (or sugar substitute) *Aluminum foil *Kid friendly knife *Apron *Mixing bowl *Spatula *Nonstick cooking spray *Salt *Baking soda *Oil *Potholder or oven mit *Roll of paper towel *Vanilla extract *Big spoon for stirring *Whisk *Cinnamon
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Cooking does require the use of sharp utensils such as knives to complete recipes. Air fryers are simple to use but get extremely hot. It is highly recommended that parents work alongside their children to keep them safe. With so many different versions of air fryers available, I recommend that parents help their children become acquainted with how it works prior to class. Likewise, it is recommended that kid friendly utensils such as knives be used to prevent injury.
