"Today a reader, tomorrow a leader." – Margaret Fuller Reading is more fun when you are in a book club! Have fun talking and sharing thoughts about a new book every two weeks. Who was your favorite character? Why? Did you like the writing style? What would you change? What was your favorite quote? These are just some of the questions we will discuss in our book club. As an avid reader who has been a part of a book club for over 25 years, I can't wait to be a part of your child's reading journey. **This class meets every other week. This allows students two weeks to read each book. You are only billed for the class dates that we meet. **Reading the book ahead of time is required. During class, we will discuss the book allowing each student a chance to share their opinions and thoughts. I will also engage the students in reading comprehension questions including main idea, inference, character analysis, sequence of events, author purpose, and more. Please see the Common Core State Standards this class addresses below. This class is designed for students who love to read as we read two books a month so they will need to be able to keep up. I encourage all parents to research the books chosen for the class. I suggest checking out the books on www.commonsensemedia.org. While we try to read books appropriate for this age group, we realize everyone has different values. If a student is signed up for our class, this is your approval of the book. I am a kind, encouraging teacher who works hard to engage all students in our classes.
