Class Experience
US Grade 2 - 12
Important Notes: All of my classes are inclusive and welcome the neurodiverse child. CEFR: B1-B2 or above. Class may be taught in English or Spanish. Learner explores the development of human mobility and transportation as depicted from rock paintings in Africa to modern times and vehicles. The class will be in the form of a vibrant presentation showcasing this evolution and how designs respond to historical circumstances, social context and innovations. Learner will develop a geographic and cultural appreciation through the many examples of brands & models. Learner will also learn how cars have not only inspired human mobility, but how they arguably are one of the main factors impacting our human perception of time/space/speed, from our bipedal ability to self-transport at a human-centered pace, to the horse, and then with actual machines capable of moving at progressively faster rates. The class is structured with an introduction, a rich slide presentation, exchanges, and a final Q & A. Teaching style is kind and inclusive, emphasizing love for history, cars, design, deeper understanding of how society shapes design and vice versa. Learners will interact with teacher throughout the class. Class size is kept small to allow for learner's curiosity to be expressed. This class is one of a group of Art History classes, which may be taken as a complete group, as in a camp format, or separately. No previous experience is required. All of my classes are suitable for the neurodiverse child. In order to gauge student's interest level, adjust as needed, and keep an engaged environment, teacher requires open mic and camera during class time. Depending on Learner's interaction and engagement, class may run a bit longer. Parent may want to allow for additional time to accommodate Learner.
