*This social club is open to all students with different levels of abilities but is centered around accommodations for students who need extra support during class. Learners are required to have Among Us downloaded on a device before the class starts. In this ongoing class, learner directed, I hope to provide a positive learning environment where students will feel comfortable and safe to interact with other students. In this class we will be playing among us in a safe environment where everyone can have fun. During our game time, learners will be practicing their communication and listening skills while building friendships along the way.
Learning Goals
Students will practice their listening skills, giving and receiving feedback appropriately and make lasting friendships with peers. Students will also be using critical thinking skills by trying to find out who the imposter is.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
As described by Common Sense media "Players take on the role either of crewmates trying to accomplish tasks or of imposters trying to sabotage these missions and murder the crew. Imposters can kill players in somewhat gory ways, and bodies are left behind, but there's no blood and the cartoonish visuals limit the impact of the deaths." If there is a instance where enough students are not present due to unforeseen circumstances we will play on a public lobby that is controlled by me with quick chat always on.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Associate's Degree from Daytona State College
I am Autistic and have ADHD so I know what learners who are similar to me might need. Whether that is visuals cues or just things that make the experience more engaging. I have worked with the disability community in both social group settings and special olympics.
