In this interactive author visit, your child will help the narrator find the reason why Mr. Snowman is sad. The goal is to find a way to make the snowman happy by using critical thinking in the scenarios they will be presented with. They will "travel" to the nearby village and ask the townspeople if they know why the snowman is sad. More than simply reading through the book, this visit is designed to be engaging - children will be treated as if they are part of the story themselves, serving as mini investigators alongside the narrator. Imagination will be ignited when the children are asked questions about the mystery, including being able to come up with their own theories, which helps boost critical thinking skills. The visit can also promote literacy by naturally encouraging kids to become more invested in the materials they read, as well as the experience of connecting with an author. A snowman activity sheet will also be explained at the end of the reading.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a children's book publisher, illustrator, and author. I have 22 published titles - and counting. I published my first book in 2010 and have experience with virtual author visits.
I have experience as a learning coach for my own children for over 11 years with an online, fully-accredited private school. I instructed and assisted in courses in Language Arts [writing skills, handwriting, spelling, literature and comprehension, vocabulary, composition, grammar use and mechanics], history, mathematics, and science.
In 2017 to 2018, I used my skills in English to teach children on an overseas platform called VIPKid. My students were fully immersed into a one-on-one instruction of the English language, where I taught them using TPR [Total Physical Response] that enriched their curriculum and encouraged critical thinking and their creativity. I also created award systems that gave learners confidence about their performance.
Through 2018 to 2021, I taught here, on Outschool! I initially educated children about the aspects of writing. My classes ranged from reading books to teaching plot elements to answering questions and providing guidance about the indie publishing world. Later in my Outschool career, I offered classes that focused on skill-building. After my years with Outschool, I continued my courses into 2023 through Learn With Cat on my own site.
