Did you know Hemingway tried to take out enemy submarines with his own fishing boat? Or that Emily Bronte died because she accidentally drank cemetery runoff water?? Yep! This class is a new twist on learning literature! We will be learning about some of the greatest authors of all time! That means fun facts, important milestones, and a deep dive into their personal and professional lives. Of course, one of the best ways to get to know an author is by reading their work... so each week we will be reading an excerpt from some of their best works! October: Mary Shelley Edgar Allan Poe November: Ernest Hemingway Agatha Christie Charlotte Bronte Maya Angelou December: Emily Bronte Walt Whitman Langston Hughes Leo Tolstoy January: Mary Oliver George Orwell Emily Dickinson Washington Irving February: Shel Silverstein E.E. Cummings Charles Dickens Jane Austen March: J.K. Rowling Virginia Woolf F. Scott Fitzgerald Mark Twain April: Elizabeth Browning Herman Melville Toni Morrison James Joyce May: D.H.
