Author Studies - Understanding Great Literature

In this ongoing course, students will be introduced to authors as though they were able to meet with them personally! We will be learning about who these great authors were, facts about their lives, and reading excerpts of their work!

Class Experience

Did you know Hemingway tried to take out enemy submarines with his own fishing boat? Or that Emily Bronte died because she accidentally drank cemetery runoff water?? Yep! 

This class is a new twist on learning literature! 

We will be learning about some of the greatest authors of all time! That means fun facts, important milestones, and a deep dive into their personal and professional lives. Of course, one of the best ways to get to know an author is by reading their work... so each week we will be reading an excerpt from some of their best works!

I have made sure all the excerpts we read in class are clean and age-appropriate. If your student shows an interest in reading the full book on their own, please do your own research to see if it's an appropriate fit for your student or not.
