Description
Class Experience
Take the stage feeling confident and informed with this Auditions 101 class that overviews all things auditions! In this lecture and discussion heavy presentation, students will be guided through four major aspects of auditions: 1) how auditions work/what to expect, 2) what to prepare/bring to an audition, 3) what to do in an audition, and 4) how to manage expectations and fears at an audition. We’ll spend the first 30 minutes of class working through the PowerPoint presentation together. A...
1) Be able to identify the following auditions materials: headshot, resume, slate, cold read, monologue & side. 2) Actively participate in discussions and/or ask questions to support learning about auditions. 3) Actively participate in practice activities to prepare for slating and cold reading. 4) Feel more informed and knowledgeable about the audition process and materials needed to audition.
I have over 10 years of dance and theater instructing experience for large scale competition studios, theatres, and preschool programs and have been directing community theatre productions for 4 years. Alongside my Bachelor’s in Theatre Studies, I also hold two Associate degrees in Child Development and Social and Behavioral Sciences- making me well versed in instructional techniques for preschool aged students. I’ve been a professional performer for over 10 years.
Performers do not need to bring any supplies to class. A PDF packet that overviews major topics, tips, and discussion points from the class will be provided in the Outschool classroom during the live meeting.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
As a learner directed class, discussion and topic focuses may vary depending on the needs of the individuals in each class. In each class we will always complete the presentation together and cold reading/slate practice- but how much time we spend discussing each topic and what questions I am able to answer will vary depending on the class size, interest of the students, and the time remaining in class.
All PDF’s and classroom materials are created by Miss Lexa (excluding monologue examples). PDF’s may be used for the purpose of studying and learning in the Outschool classroom and home setting. Students do not have permission to distribute or copy the materials for any other purpose.
