Welcome to Auditioning 101! This is a great introduction to auditions focusing specifically on theatre, film, camera and commercial acting. In this course, we will perform many mock auditions as experience for a real world setting. This class is flexible for learners' needs and interests in the entertainment industry. Mock auditions will range from theatre acting, theatre musical, TV, film, commercials and so on. In this acting class, students will learn tips and tricks about performing in the audition room, as well as script and character analysis. They will apply the techniques to their performances. Sample of classes: Week 1-2/June 10-17: Getting to know you, Warm-ups, Discussion on area of focus, What is Auditioning? plus Tips and Tricks to Rock the Room. Week 3-4/June 24-July 1: Commercial Project, Acting Techniques, Character Analysis. Week 5-6/July 1-8: Theatrical Monologue Project, Voice/Movement workshop. Week 7-8/July 15-22: Film Project, Difference between theatre and film acting discussion. Week 9-10/July 29-August 5: TV Project, Character Analysis, Screen test example. Students will be given homework and materials to explore script and character analysis outside of class. This is an introductory class but is appropriate for students who have acted for a while and those that are new. The class is mostly hands-on. I will give students feedback throughout the class. Although this class is more serious, VPAA's teaching style is student-centered and very supportive.
