What's included
Class Experience
The teacher will guide the students in learning the first steps of how to sing! Students will work on matching pitch, increasing the range of notes they can sing, learning how to read notes on the staff, and become familiar with basic vocal warm ups. Students will learn many new songs to sing! More specifics: -The instructor will go over how to breathe properly while singing, and basic foundational technique to sing. -Students will work on ear training, to recognize and be able to hear when pitches are matching or not matching. -Students will learn the musical alphabet and be able to quickly think of the next letter stepping up or stepping down, or skipping up and down -Students will learn multiple vocal warm ups and should sing along to warm up their voice. -The teacher will write out notes on the staff and explain what they are called, and teach how to recognize different notes on the staff, and how to sing them using do, re, mi! -The teacher will teach high notes vs. low notes, and how to recognize the sound of steps vs. skips. -The teacher will explain musical symbols such as treble clef, forte and piano, repeat sign, double bar lines, etc. -Most weeks the instructor will be teaching a new piece to work on memorizing the words to and singing! We will be doing lots of review of previous pieces as well so students will build up a nice “repertoire” of songs they can sing! Students should interact and answer questions in the classroom! After each lesson, students will have a singing assignment and a written assignment. Students should share their video assignments in the classroom and the teacher will also provide feedback on written work. Students should take notes (or have a parent take notes) during each lesson of any questions that you think of, and take note of questions asked so we can discuss. Students will also be paired up for a creative project of composing their own song! Students can share their work with each other to inspire each other and see what each other is working on.
