Description

Class Experience

As a teacher I went to many reading conferences and left feeling very overwhelmed. I have spent years learning about how children learn best and it is my goal is to pass this knowledge onto you and your child. My motto is "Learning Simplified". I use fun and exciting ways to teach your child that are researched based. Best of all I pass this knowledge onto you so you can do these easy and fun activities with your child. My learning goal for your child as they go through these courses, is that they are well prepared to enter Kindergarten. If you do all aspects of my course your child will have a good foundation for Kindergarten. All children learn at different speeds but this will give them a strong foundation to enter into elementary school.
I have a dual degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I am a licensed teacher in the state of Utah. I have taught Preschool through 3 grade and have loved every grade. As a young child I had a very hard time reading and spelling. Both my parents were teachers they tutored me through school and helped me to be successful in my education. I noticed my own children were having a hard time with reading and I discovered that they are dyslexic and so am I. Over the past four years I have studied dyslexia and dyscalculia and found research proven ways to teach and help young readers and mathematicians. Making sure your child is ready for kindergarten is a huge step in early intervention.
Each week you will have two videos that are about 10 minutes long to watch. I will be teaching your child the weekly alphabet letters, numbers, nursery rhymes, shapes, and colors. These videos are interactive and meant for the student to follow along with me. After the video you will have time to have your child do any additional activates that you would like that are prepared for you in the lesson plans. The main preschool lesson should only be 25 to 35 minutes long with extended activities you can do throughout the day if you would like. The preschool week is broken up into 4 days with the 5th day left open for fun learning experiences. Please upload at least one picture from preschool each week so your child can post their progress and see others.
You will get printouts every week. You can print them off or follow along with them on the computer.
You will need playdough and a sheet protector.
This month we will be using popcorn kernels for our sensory material. If you would like you can use rice again this month.
You will need a small mirror so your child can see how their face looks as they make the letter sound.
If you wish to do the additional activities you will get the lesson plans the week before to get any other materials ready that you would like to use.
Each week your child will check in and interact with Nearpod. There will be videos to watch and a few questions to answer inside of the Nearpod video. If they check in every week, they will get a certificate of completion.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
This course is designed so that you and your child do it together. I will walk you and your child through the activities and then you need to do them together.
