Asynchronous Book Club - Reading and Writing for Teens Who Love to Read!
Class experience
US Grade 8 - 11
The goal of this book club is to read highly acclaimed books and write short reading responses for each book. This book club is perfect for parents who want their teens to read and write each week. Over the course of the semester, we will read a variety of highly acclaimed books across genres. I have chosen these books to get students excited and engaged with the writing, making them want to share their thoughts with others. The books we will be reading and discussing are: Week 1 - Legends...
Book clubs are a great way to teach students to form and share opinions with others which are an important skill to have as they get older. I run all book clubs so every student is able to answer questions that I pose and participate in the discussion. My goal for the students is to get them to share their thoughts however they feel comfortable doing that.
I am an experienced educator who has been leading book clubs for over ten years. Due to my experience with teens and book clubs, I am able to discuss any sensitive topics in an age-appropriate way. I have a love of literature that I share with my students. I am also experienced with students of all abilities and am patient and respectful toward everyone. I love nurturing a love of learning and reading in my students and feel that my enthusiasm rubs off onto my students, which is a joy to see.
