Astronomy: Solar System Crayon Resist

In this class, we will be coloring and painting a planet coloring sheet printed on cardstock paper using the wax resist art method. I will also show images of the planets from book excerpts and summarize facts about our solar system including physical features, moons, planets, orbit and rotation.

Pictured above are images from two of the times I have taught this class. You will create one image in class. 

Print the template on card stock and have it ready for class.

As a homeschooling Mom, I believe that learning should be fun and interactive. I don’t homeschool with the intent of replicating traditional school/public school at home. I believe that children are little adults with worthwhile ideas and not simply obedient subjects who must be granted permission when it is their time to speak. I try to keep my class size small so that children can actively participate and have an active role.

It might be necessary for me to miss and schedule a make up class if my 6-year-old daughter is scheduled to work (modeling and acting). She typically has one booking per month taking up part of a day. That part of the day may or may not fall during this class.
