Class Experience
This course will review 88 constellations recognized by The International Astronomical Union. Students will learn about Messier Objects – A French Astronomer – Charles Messier (1730-1817) identified these 100 objects and categorized them by brightness – and how to earn their certificate for viewing these objects from the Astronomical League Messier Club. Students will also learn how to track and calculate star positions using right ascension and declination, choose tools for amateur...
Students are asked to spend at least 15 - 30 minutes a week stargazing using either apps, PCs, binoculars, telescopes or their natural eyes the various constellations.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
