Astronomy for Big Kids: The Phases of the Moon

Class
Breezy Ocaña Flaquer, PhD
Average rating:5.0Number of reviews:(28)
In this one time STEAM class we will talk about the Moon, how it orbits around the Earth and why we see different phases of the Moon throughout the month.

Class experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Ph. D. in Astrophysics - Astrophysics/Astronomy Communicator/Educator/Adjunct at the San Diego University volunteering on a number of community projects that promote a mindful STEAM curriculum. I also homeschool my three children, and I am personally active internationally offering workshops to both children, adults and teachers.
The students may bring a flash light and any spherical object (an orange, a ball, etc.) to experiment with me on how to make the phases of the Moon. Although they can bring any spherical object, I recommend one with plain colors that they can hold with one hand.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
