How does the solar system hold up its pants???
***with an ASTEROID BELT!!!*** 😂

The solar system is one of my favorite things to talk about, especially with children! I have found the enthusiasm with this subject to be contagious, and nothing thrills me more than a student that gets excited about outer space. No matter how old I get, I still love discovering new things about it. Luckily for all of us, there seems to be a brand new discovery or event every single day! In this class, we will discuss the impressive way the International Space Station was built, which countries are a part of it, and how we still keep it functioning successfully over 24 years later. My favorite part of class is discussing the unique methods the astronauts living on the space station use to complete their every day tasks- much differently from how we do things here on Earth. From eating to using the restroom, we will learn several ways these astronauts go about normal life. Students can expect a conversational style class with plenty of open discussion about all things space related, although our main focus will be the ISS and the astronauts. Everyone's opinion is welcome, as I want all students to feel comfortable interacting with me, and each other. We will learn fun facts about astronaut life, tell jokes, and I will send a Blooket game to play at the end of class that covers what we discussed. If you've never played Blooket before, you do not need your own individual account. I will send a link that will take you directly to the game. Just enter a name/nickname and play! 😄 Whether it's a one-on-one class or a group environment, my number one goal of every class is to inspire a love of learning new things, and I'm excited to be able to do this!
Learning Goals
My main goal as a teacher is always to launch a lifetime of space exploration and curiosity for my students, and inspire an enthusiasm in them to learn more about what exists beyond Earth. In this class, students will learn how the International Space Station was built and continues to function over 24 years later! They will discover the unique way the astronauts get to perform their normal everyday tasks, all while floating around in microgravity. My favorite part about this class is getting to hear what the students think of these unconventional methods. I want to motivate an excitement and passion for space, and even the possibility of becoming an astronaut one day! Blast off on this space adventure with me!!
