US Grade 8 - 11
In this 30 minute one-time class we will be learning about the geology of the Moon, Mars, and asteroids. We will discuss the formation of The Moon and its relationship with Earth as well as the types of rock and geological processes that lead to the way the Moon and Mars are today. Learners will be introduced to the largest volcano in the solar system, and other important geological features of Mars. We will also learn about the different types of asteroids and the difference between an asteroid, a comet, a meteor, and a meteorite. Learners will be asked questions and discuss class material with other students throughout the class and are encouraged to ask questions of their own. No prior knowledge or experience is required, but a love of geology or space is encouraged. This class covers much of the same material as the class for younger learners, but will go more into depth and will be geared to older learners.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about the formation, composition, and importance of the Moon, Mars, and asteroids.
