US Grade 5 - 7
For aspiring writers, interacting with other writers and receiving feedback is valuable. In this ongoing class, aspiring writers will do just that. They will meet with a small group of their peers, share their writing, and give and receive constructive criticism. The discussion will be overseen and moderated by me, their instructor. I will guide them in learning both how to give feedback to others and how to receive feedback themselves. They will learn helpful strategies for explaining what is excellent about a piece of writing and what needs work in a way that builds their peers up instead of tearing them down. They will also learn how to graciously accept both positive and negative feedback on their writing. During each meeting, writers will share something they have written with the group. This can be an essay, a chapter from a book they're writing, a poem, or anything else they've written that they'd like to share. After each writer shares, I and their fellow writers will each share positive feedback as well as a critique of their writing. Writers can submit the pieces they plan to share directly to me no less than 24 hours before a class meeting. If they do, I will provide more personalized feedback on both their grammar and the overall piece itself by class time. This can be done through Google docs. Writers should create a shareable link to their Google doc, give anyone with the link permission to comment, and then send me the link. Due to time constraints, I will not be able to give feedback on anything submitted less than 24 hours before each class meeting.
Learning Goals
Writers will improve their writing skills through consistent practice, instructor guidance, and peer feedback. They will also learn the fine art of giving and receiving constructive criticism.

Hello! My name is Rose Bradway. I am excited to meet you! My class offerings include book clubs, writing classes, and more. As a lifelong bookwyrm and writer, I'm passionate about helping my students learn the joy of discovering new worlds in books and creating their own through writing.
I have a bachelor's in counseling (with a minor in Koine Greek) and a master's in theological studies. During the course of my academic career, I took classes on history, philosophy, psychology, education, and even a computer science class. In my three years on Outschool, I have helped my students discover a love for reading, gain confidence in their writing, and more. I have taught in a variety of settings from online to in person with any number of students from one to ten or more. I enjoy teaching students of all ages but especially middle school and high school.
The world is a big, wide, beautiful place. I aim to foster curiosity and a sense of wonder in my students as we discuss stories and write them. My philosophy behind teaching is that everyone is capable of learning if given the opportunity. I plan my lessons for maximum student engagement. I want my students to love learning and discovering new things. I am their guide, their encouragement, and the person for them to fall back on when they get stuck. I hope each of my students can leave each class excited to engage the world around them. In my free time I love reading, writing, exploring used book stores, and going on hikes. I look forward to seeing you in my classroom!
