ASL: So Many Animals
Does your child love animals? Exploring animals is my favorite ways to teach children American Sign Language. This class is perfect for kinesthetic learners who like movement, sounds, and songs and want to learn about animals in the wild.

Beginner Level
Students will learn American Sign Language for animals they may encounter at home or in the wild. We will explore the sound and one identifying characteristic of each animal. We will use those signs in a song about animals. I believe signing songs is the fastest way to learn ASL vocabulary. Repetition of signs promotes greater retention. I invite conversation at the end of class to allow students to share their favorite sign they learned. Teaching ASL helps to break down barriers between the Deaf and hearing community so kids can connect and communicate more effectively.
Learning Goals
Students will...
* learn at least 15 animal ASL signs.
* identify a physical or behavioral characteristic of each animal.
* use ASL animal signs in a song for greater retention and learn additional ASL vocabulary.
