If you are currently in ASL 1,2, or 3 there is an ASL Learner's Community Group (ASL 1-3). Giving a place for students to freely sign and communicate with fellow ASL Learners. Topics will be learner-directed or dictated weekly due to current events/happenings. Journals can be used. Learner(s) can take their own notes. Signs that look the same but are different...etc. Course Objective: 1. This course will encourage small and large group activities. Since ASL is a visual/gestural language, you will need to develop communication skills of which you are not accustomed: using one's hands, face, body, eyes and space. In order to progress, it is important that students become comfortable "listening" with their eyes. 2. At learners leisure: Review of previous vocabulary learned using Mrs G's Exclusive Quizlets and regular practice of fingerspelling and numbers. Quizlets will be posted that relates to students current level. ASL 1-3 will be available and current levels passed beyond 1-3. Example: student has taken ASL 1-5 with Mrs. G: Student will receive ASL 1-5 Quizlets during enrollment and participation in this ongoing course. 3. Receptive: To help you develop your receptive skills, you will be invited to Mrs. G’s exclusive Quizlets to take quizzes and master signs learned in class meetings. 4. Expressive : ASL Learner's Community Group (4 and Beyond) is 100% "voices off" class sessions allowing for review and practice of signs previously learned. You will be expected to participate in group activities The expressive activities and class participation are designed to help you learn what fluent ASL "feels" like.. 5. Class Participation: Participation is critical for learning. Please come prepared to be involved in class discussions and activities. ASL Learner's Community Group (4 and Beyond) is an extension of ASL 1-3 6. Learning Objectives: Communicating with others in a voices off environment will help in facilitating review and quick retrieval of signs.

I am a hearing teacher with a strong connection in the Deaf community. I am a member of the American Sign Language Teachers Association. I enjoy supporting others in their ASL journey by using my own experiences that I have acquired over the years.
I enjoy teaching all ages. HS ASL teacher with experience teaching sessions to Elementary students and adults with a variety of disabilities. 7+ years college level interpreting and tutoring that have helped me acquire knowledge not found in books. American Sign Language is an ever changing remarkable language. Let's have fun learning together!
