Class experience
This class is Part 2 of my Introduction to Words and Phrases class. It is beneficial for students if they complete Part 1 before enrolling, but is not required. Classes will follow the following format: Week 1: Class information, Introduce 25-30 new ASL signs. Review and practice Week 2: Review Week 1, Introduce 25-30 new ASL signs. Week 3: Review Weeks 1 & 2, Introduce signs to lyrics (Song revealed after lyrics are introduced) Week 4: Review Weeks 1-3, continue practice signing song...
Simple words and phrases in ASL Communication will be the focus of the class, with conversational ASL introduction.
I have been teaching ASL in-person to students of all ages for more than 25 years, and in online classrooms for more than 2 years. I have received recognition and awards for Teaching ASL by the Association of American Educators Foundation, as well as earning the title of “ASL Teacher of the Year” from Beach Cities Unified District, 1997-1999, 2001 and 2003.
