What's included
5 live meetings
3 hrs 20 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Are you competitive and seeking to incorporate your love for game into your ASL learning journey? If so, you've come to the right place. In this class we will play ASL games nearly all class period, taking only fifteen minutes during the beginning to learn a few signs and rules pertaining to the game. Look forward to friendly competitions and team building games and exercises to grow your communicative skills in ASL. PLEASE NOTE that students will need to know at least the fingerspelled alphabet to partake and the content in each session is not contingent upon the next, except for remembering the names of your classmates which may come in handy during some of our games. The main skill of fingerspelling is necessary and will be included in nearly every class, but no matter your skill level, as long as you know the fingerspelled alphabet from A - Z, you will be able to participate. Each session will be centered around learning or practicing using signs from the following topics: - Fingerspelling - Colors - Numbers - Food Signs - Animal Signs
Learning Goals
Students will better their fingerspelling receptive skills while adding to their ASL vocabulary repertoire.

Color Signs
We will spend up to the first ten minutes reviewing color signs. The teacher will fingerspell each color sign to introduce each new sign in order to build upon fingerspelling receptive skills (the ability to read fingerspelling). We will then use Kahoot to review the manual alphabet and practice the newly learned color signs. Finally, we will play a game in which students will race to read fingerspelled colors using a video from 5 Guys ASL YouTube channel.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Community College of Philadelphia
I have been learning American Sign Language since my introduction to the visual language at age two and have taught beginning ASL to 5-12-year-olds at a local homeschool coop for the past three years. I've also learned a host of ASL games through attending ASL meetups and deaf events and I love using games as an opportunity for students to learn.
