Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
This will be a fun holiday class in which the learners will be introduced to the ASL vocabulary for the Christmas holidays. Students will participate in a fun class to explore ASL while celebrating in the spirit of Christmas. No prerequisites are needed for this class.  
Day 1: Santa Claus Theme
 ASL Vocabulary: Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, stockings, chimney, Christmas tree, decorations, lights, wreath, presents, Santa Claus, elf, reindeer, cookies, milk, play, toys, pajamas, fireplace
            ASL Story:  The Night Before Christmas - told in Deaf child
            ASL Song:  We Wish You a Merry Christmas
                               Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer
                              
Day 2: Holiday food and traditions
ASL Vocabulary: ham, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, turkey, stuffing, potatoes, corn, green beans, cake, pie, family, tradition, Christmas movie, hot chocolate, Christmas carol, Review game for ASL Vocabulary presented in Day 1 lesson. 
           ASL Christmas Story: How the Grinch Stole Christmas
           ASL Songs:  Frosty the Snowman
                               Jingle Bells

Day 3:  Religious Signs/Holiday Phrases
ASL Vocabulary: Jesus, manger, shepherds, wisemen, star, baby, taxes, Bethlehem, donkey, animals, cow, sheep, Kwanza, Hanukkah 
                  ASL Christmas Sentences
                  ASL Songs:  Away in the Manger
                                       Silent Night
                  Conclude class by singing favorite carols learned in class.
               
What a great way to learn something new over the Christmas Holiday Season!
