Description
Class Experience
Students will: *learn the proper ASL sign for a variety of zoo animals *apply this knowledge to match pictures and challenge their classmates *interact with their peers in a small group setting
ASL has been an interest of mine for as long as I can remember. Please note, I am not a sign language interpreter or teacher, but I have completed two semesters of sign language courses, as well as ongoing self-study. As a public school teacher, I taught an ASL mini-course to middle school aged students, focusing on fingerspelling, vocabulary practice, and interpreting short songs.
There are so many ASL resources out there from books to YouTube videos to other Outschool classes. I encourage anyone interested in sign language to keep learning! It's a fascinating topic to study.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
