Students will learn through signing their ABCs with the webcam and receive feedback on their signing quality for letters. This is strictly finger spelling, not ASL grammar or usage technique. We can also discuss how the deaf community develops name signs rather than finger spelling names. If time permits we will discuss and learn some basic signs used to introduce yourself, learn the days of the week, and some very basic phrases and important words. Syntax will only be discussed in the confines of the phrases learned "You-Name-What" for example.
Learning Goals
Students will learn all 26 alphabetic signs for finger spelling in American sign Language and should be able to sign their own name by the end of the class (with practice).
