Class Experience

Students will learn about important periods of transition in American history and how the peaceful transfer of power has impacted the course of American life. They will be able to describe how famous or memorable lines from inaugural addresses portray significant moments in history. They will also learn what to expect from the upcoming inauguration and its place in our own lives and history.
There is no homework for this course.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The learners will be informally assessed throughout the lesson with a final, summative informal assessment near the conclusion of the class.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This is a history course that will inform learners of the long and rich history of the peaceful transition of power and the presidential inauguration. While the content will focus on political history, both the course and the teacher will remain un-biased, neither supporting nor endorsing any current political party, side of any issue, or any candidate. Exceptions to this will be made for issues that faced the nation in earlier eras that are no longer debated in partisan settings, i.e. enslavement, segregation, universal suffrage, etc.
All of the content for this class will come from primary sources, audio, video, and photographs of presidential inaugurations.
