This a chance for autistics to ask questions they may have about school accommodations, independent living skills, college, and autism advocacy among other topics. Because this class is designed to be a chance for students to ask their questions it is a small group (1-4 students) and student lead. I will have material to cover if students do not have questions or do not have enough to fill the time. Topics I am able to cover that may be of interest to autistics include: Accommodations in high school and college Independent life skills and "life hacks" for autistics Autistic views on Autism speaks (Like many autistic I consider this group a hate group) Sensory needs and emotional regulation Ablism in our society Autistic Advocacy If you have related topics you would like to discuss please let me know ahead of time and I will let you know if that is possible or not. This class is inclusive which means that autistics of abilities, sexual orientations, regions, and genders are welcome. Please let me know if your student needs any accommodations or if there is anything else I should know so that we can work together to ensure the best possible class experience. This class is discussion-based and students are encouraged to share their opinions and lived experiences. This is not therapy or counseling, I will not be telling students what to do or solving their problems, I will just be sharing my lived and professional experience and encouraging students to brainstorm suggestions for one another.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am an autistic adult who has been working with autistic children for over 5 years. I have my associate's degree in special education and am passionate about teaching children about autism and how to support their autistic peers. Every autistic person is different so it is important to add that aside from my own experience as an autistic adult I have worked with over 500 autistic children, both in-person and online, all of whom are in different places on the spectrum and have unique strengths and challenges. I advocated for myself and others to get needed accommodations and even successfully petitioned to get rules changed at my college when those rules negatively imparting disabled college students. I have been teaching classes mainly for autistic students on Outschool since January 2020. If you have any concerns or questions concerning my qualification I would suggest looking at the reviews from some of my other classes.
