Class Experience

In this history class, students will learn about the amazing life and achievements of Dalip Singh Saund, the first Asian American elected to Congress. His story is quite inspiring for many. We will have discussions about Saund's immigration to the United States, his political career, and his lasting impact on American history. Students will also learn about the challenges he overcame as the first elected Asian American of Indian descent, paving the way for many other Asian Americans and people of color in politics today. Students will be able to both answer and ask questions, fostering active participation and deeper understanding. This interaction will be facilitated through engaging slide shows incorporating multimedia resources such as videos and images. By actively engaging with the material, students will enhance their comprehension of Dalip Singh Saund's journey and its significance in American history.

This class may extend beyond 30 minutes, depending on students' understanding and the depth of their questions. I prioritize giving each student an opportunity to speak if they desire, fostering a engaging atmosphere where every voice is valued. This ensures that students have ample time to express their thoughts, engage in discussions, and enhance their comprehension of the subject matter.
