During this 30 minute class, we will explore the different kinds of marks our pen or pencil can make - dots, dashes, squiggles, spirals...the possibilities are endless! Students will learn that these marks are perfect for describing different textures in our drawings and have time to practise this in a fun exercise. For this class, students will need 5/6 sheets of plain paper and a pen or pencil. The lesson will start with some arty games, to help everyone relax and get to know each other. ...
Students will learn how to create different textural effects using a range of dots, dashes and other marks. They will also realise that our mood can influence the kind of marks we make and communicate our feelings through our drawing.
I am a practising artist and taught Art and Design and Photography in secondary schools and sixth forms for over 13 years, honing my approach until my teaching was consistently graded outstanding against the OFSTED framework. In addition to this I have run hundreds of art workshops for children both in the UK and Ireland. I am proud to develop and run Future Creatives workshops (both online and in person) for the University of the Arts London (UAL) which comprises of 6 colleges, among them Central Saint Martins and Chelsea College of Arts. I am passionate about promoting the creative process in children and am always positive, friendly and encouraging!
