Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Beginner Level
In this one-time class, learners will be painting two versions of the same lion head- one using life-like colors and the other using any colors they want!

🎨 We'll start class with a warm welcome and icebreaker question. Then we'll get started on our paintings!

🎨 For the first, we will look at pictures of real lions and learn how to pick life-like colors when painting an animal. We'll go step-by-step and paint together, learning how using different amounts of pressure on the brush gives us different results.

🎨 In our second painting, we'll discuss how, as artists, we get to decide how we want our art to look and that we don't have to use realistic colors if we don't want to. Then, we'll paint step-by-step again with learners choosing which colors they will use for their lion.

The goals of this class are to learn how to use different brush strokes to achieve the lion's mane and to start developing a sense of self as an artist. I want learners to feel confident in what they create and proud of how their art is different from anyone else's!

I am a patient and positive teacher and I truly believe that everyone can create art! I love seeing learners build their confidence and have fun creating something they're proud of. Everyone's finished product will be different and we celebrate those differences! Also, as a former shy kid myself, I am very understanding of learners who take some time to warm up and there is no pressure in my classes to talk if that isn't comfortable yet. All are welcome here!
