In this one-time art class, we'll be getting in the Thanksgiving spirit by coloring and painting a turkey! 🎨 We'll start class with a warm welcome and learners will have the opportunity to share their favorite part of Thanksgiving (for me, it's pie!). We'll also learn some fun facts about turkeys! 🎨 Next, we'll move on to our art project. First, learners will color the body of the turkey using crayons or markers. 🎨 Then, they will use their fingers* and washable paint to create the turkey's beautiful feathers. We'll do everything together, step by step! I am a patient and positive teacher and I truly believe that everyone can create art! I love seeing learners build their confidence and have fun creating something they're proud of. Everyone's finished product will be different and we celebrate those differences! Also, as a former shy kid myself, I am very understanding of learners who take some time to warm up and there is no pressure in my classes to talk if that isn't comfortable yet. All are welcome here! This project is great for young artists, especially pre-k and kindergarten aged learners. No experience is needed! I would recommend that a grownup be nearby to help, as painting can get messy! *If your learner doesn't like to touch the paint (sensory preferences are real and valid!), I would recommend using a pom pom attached to a clothespin as a substitute.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Grownups will need to print the template for the turkey body before class (provided to enrolled learners). While adults are reminded to remain off camera, I recommend that a grownup be available to supervise during class.
**Finger painting can get messy! I recommend covering the work surface during class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from The University of Florida
I have always loved working with children as well as arts and crafts! I've been a nursery coordinator, daycare teacher, nanny, and school volunteer over the years. I also have three kids of my own. I have a B.A. in linguistics and I volunteered for a literacy program for two years, during which I helped kindergarteners practice their letters and letter sounds. I have my own Etsy shop and love doing art projects for myself and of course with kids!
