Description

Class Experience

Students will learn how to create journals and handmade books.
Students will begin to consider how everyday materials can be repurposed and up-cycled.

Stephanie made her first book in 3rd grade for a book report with the help of her Dad. Since then Ms. Stephanie has been teaching art to kids of all ages for 25 yrs and been making handmade and sculptural books off and on for nearly half that time. Handmade travel journals and art journals are her favorite books to make, but simplifying the process for kids to develop a love of handmade books is always fun and rewarding.
Copy paper colored cardstock recycled cardboard glue sticks hand held hole punch 3 hole punch rubber bands paper clips binder clips glue sticks ribbon, yarn or embroidery thread A detailed list for each weeks book making class supplies will be sent out each Monday evening.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parents, your child will likely be able to accomplish many of these tasks alone. However, some children may need help tying knots, using a hole punch and threading a needle. This is a great class for expanding autonomous art and craft making skills.
