Class Experience
In this one-time class, students will come prepared with items listed below and we will create mini bird feeders. Students will discuss why it is important to help provide food to our winter friends such as birds and squirrels during winter months. They will use their fine-motor skills to put together unique creations and socialize with their friends. Students will need: Wooden skewers (or tooth picks but skewers will allow for larger feeders) Cheerios--or another cereal with a hole in the middle preferably not a cereal with added sugar (if they are stale, that is perfect! Rather than throw away old cereal, we can give it to our animal friends) Pieces of bread or rolls (stale bread works great) small pieces of fruit chopped -- can also use raisins, grapes, cranberries, dried fruit, dates, prunes, etc. Yarn/Twine/String- a few pieces cut into various lengths
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
For younger learners, it is advised that students should come to class with yarn/string cut by parents before class. If students are using scissors to cut their own string/yarn in class parental supervision may be required.
