Class Experience

In this art course, students will learn about 5 world-famous artists: J. Pollock, W. Kandinsky, Van Gogh, C. Monet, F. Kahlo. Each day we will talk about one artist and his art style (impressionism, abstraction, expressionism, modernism, cubism) and we will look at the artist's most famous paintings. After that, students will be guided to create their own artwork inspired by this artist.

Day 1 - Jackson Pollock. Blossom Tree. Students will work on a famous splattering style painting.
Day 2 - Wassily Kandinsky. Watercolor circles. Students will use watercolor paints to create colorful circles.
Day 3 - Vincent Van Gogh. Forkie Starry Night. Students are going to paint this well-known artwork and add some cool looking details with a fork.
Day 4 - Claude Monet. Sponge style water lilies. Students are going to create the famous lily pond by applying paints with a sponge.
Day 5 - Frida Kahlo. Students will create a portrait of Frida using oil pastels (or crayons).

Students may need some time outside of class to finish their art projects.

Note: Please see the supply list below

My main principle - there are no mistakes and wrong decisions in the creative process! Everyone, even the smallest artist, has his own path. In my classes, I will not ask students to mindlessly repeat after me. I will show them step by step video example where students can see different options, and so will be able to bring their personal touches into their artwork.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their knowledge of art history, famous artists, and art styles.

My name is Elena Galindo, and I am a children's book illustrator specializing in creating fun and whimsical digital illustrations in a playful and adorable style. I am excited to introduce myself and share a little bit about me with you.

I have been creating illustrations that bring stories to life with lively characters, cute and cheeky animals, and colorful landscapes. Children are my favorite audience, as they inspire and motivate me to create illustrations that can spark their imagination and ignite their curiosity.

In addition to creating illustrations, I also teach digital art to children. This has given me valuable insight into what children are interested in and what captures their attention. I am always looking for new ways to engage children with my illustrations

I have a bachelor’s and master's degree in Human Resources with a large portion being focused on training and development. I have also taken several art courses in painting techniques. Additionally, as a mother of two, I enjoy teaching my kids about art and languages. I show them the importance of cultural diversity and multicultural integration.

My philosophy is that everyone has the potential to be great. The importance is to guide students with fun and interactive courses to keep their focus on the task at hand.

I would love to be your paintbrush buddy and I hope to see you in my classes. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me and I will be happy to help.
