Class Experience

Does your child love learning about art and creating masterpieces? Then this is the camp for your little artist! I am so excited to offer this Art Summer Camp to your learner. This is a fun, creative and educational camp in which we will celebrate learning about and creating art. Each day, your learner will be introduced to a well-known artist(Henri Matisse, Maud Lewis, Paul Klee, Grant Wood and Kenojuak Ashevak). I will use a variety of medias to share some high-interest facts about the artist's life and their artwork. We will explore and discuss the fundamentals and basics of art in a fun and engaging way including color, texture, line, medium, collage, color wash, shape, color mixing, etc. After learning about the artist, we will make our own masterpieces based on that artist's work. Projects will include: COLLAGE(Matisse), PASTEL CAT PORTRAIT(Lewis), LINE AND SHAPE WATERCOLOR CASTLE AND SUN(Klee), FAMILY PORTRAIT(Wood) and SPIRIT OWL(Ashevak). This will be achieved through step-by-step instruction and modelling. At the end of each class, there will be a time for learners to share their masterpieces and to receive and give feedback. Learners may also choose to post their masterpieces to the classroom where they can also receive feedback.
Although each demonstration will be finished by the end of class, students may need or wish to continue working on their masterpiece after class. Everyone works at a different speed, and it's better to enjoy the process than to rush.
