Crafts will be themed or seasonal. Each class starts with a greeting and a description of the project. I will always have a completed project to show the students to make expectations clear and answer questions. While directions will be structured and given step-by-step, I will encourage the students to be creative and expressive by making personal choices about color, shape, size, etc. I feel strongly that art is the perfect outlet for a child to feel free to express themselves and will encourage each student to really showcase their individual personalities through their art. While having fun, we will also focus on developing skills including, but not limited to: fine motor, shape recognition, cutting, patterns, drawing, and listener responding. Throughout class, I will encourage meaningful and fun discussions by asking questions related to our projects. I will also rely on positive reinforcement to support student confidence and engagement. At the end of each class, students will have the option share their projects and discuss the personal choices they have made. No experience is required. OCTOBER: Week of October 2nd: 3D pumpkin patch Week of October 9th: Silhouette bats Week of October 16th: Shape monsters Week of October 23rd: Construction paper jack-o-lantern Week of October 30th: Owl craft Future class crafts will be posted at a later date.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Education from Virginia Commonwealth University
Welcome! I’m so glad you’re interested in finding a suitable art class!
Art is something I have always been passionate about and I am so excited to share that passion on this platform. Here you will find teacher directed art activities with fun activity related conversation. My main goals are that my students have fun, learn through play, and feel confident about the work they have completed.
I grew up in multiple art classes and it was always my consistent year round activity. Before receiving a Master’s degree in Teaching: Early Childhood Education, I worked as an assistant art teacher. I have spent approximately 10 years in the education field working with a variety of age groups from preschool to 4th grade. I also spent several years working in Applied Behavior Analysis in a school preparatory program for children with Autism. Art has always been incorporated into my teaching style and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see its impact!
