This one time painting class will focus on the rich history, symbolism and uses of sunflowers. Today the sunflower is seen around the world as a symbol of solidarity, resilience and strength. We will explore the characteristics of sunflowers, where sunflowers grow, the varieties of sunflowers and sunflowers in art history. Students will have the opportunity to paint and create. Students will have the opportunity to learn the significance of the sunflower Students will have the opportunity to become familiar with significant artworks and artist whose art features sunflowers.
Stephanie is a k-12 certified art educator and arts in healthcare profession who has been teaching children and working with dementia care residents for over 20 years. Creating fun, engaging art experiences that are age appropriate and confidence building is her specialty, she'll use these skills to make art the most exciting and fun class of the week!
Watercolor paper or mixed media paper watercolor paint oil pastels water small, medium and large paint brush paper towel
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
