Class Experience

Week 1- Painting Class consecutive for 4 days- Students will learn how to paint several different ways such as basic lines, splatter, and watercolor. Day 1- Read Aloud. Paint abstract lines using one color paint.  Day 2- Read Aloud about Vincent Van Gogh.  Paint a Starry Night.  Day 3- Read Aloud about Monet.  Paint a watercolor landscape.  Day 4- Painting of Student's Choice of Still Life.
Week 2- Collage Class consecutive for 4 days- Students will learn how to create basic collages using techniques of Eric Carle, Picasso, and Matisse. Day 1- Read Aloud an Eric Carle Book.  Paint Paper to use in Collage.  Day 2- Read Aloud another Eric Carle book.  Make Collage Using Painted Paper.  Day 3- Learn about Matisse.  Make a paper collage.  Day 4- Learn about Picasso.  Make a collage in the style of cubism.
Week 3 - Drawing Class consecutive for 4 days- Students will learn how to draw and work on observational and still life drawings.  Day 1- Learn about lines and make a doodle drawing.  Day 2- Read Aloud Where the Wild Things Are. Learn how to draw a monster using Step by Step pages.  Day 3- Learn how to draw Student's Choice.  Day 4- Observational Drawing of Neighborhood or BackYard or from a photograph of a building.
Wee 4- Photography Class consecutive for 4 days- Students will photograph everyday and learn how to make their photos better.
Day 1- Learn about Portraits and Fashion Photography and How to Critique a Photograph. Homework: Take Portraits
Day 2- Learn about Photojournalism.  Show Photos from Day 1 Homework.  View online exhibit resources. Homework: Take Photos of Choice or from the Worksheet of Ideas of Photos.
Day 3- Learn about Social Media Photography.  Show Photos from Day 2 Homework.  Homework:  Take Photos for Social Media.
Day 4- Learn about Travel Photography.  Show Photos from Day 3 Homework.  Any Topics of choice that student's would like to cover about photography and answer questions.
About an hour each day after class is required 
Digital Camera paper 8x10 and/ or 11x14 red, blue, yellow paint paint brushes watercolor paints and brush newspaper to cover work space Oversized Tshirt or apron to cover clothes so paint won't get on scissors glue tape construction paper markers crayons pencils
Class Participation
3 hours 40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
