Enhance your art smarts with this quick ongoing class where we enjoy masterpieces of sculpture from great artists. During class, I will share some background information about the artist and the culture in which they lived. Students will then study the sculpture closely before I remove it from view and we discuss our observations. After this, we will look at the sculpture again and then either discuss or sketch* a second round of observations. Please note that this class is very interactive and it is important that the students not only participate fully, but also leave their cameras and microphones on. While I require participation, there are no wrong answers and every observation is valued. "We aim at putting the children in touch with the great artist minds of all ages. We want to open their eyes and minds to appreciate the masterpieces." (The Parent's Review) March 24th - The Bust of Nefertiti by Thutmose March 31st - The Teracotta Warriors April 7th - Nike of Samothrace April 14th - Head of a Roman Patrician April 21st - Cantoria by Donatello April 28th - Pieta by Michaelangelo May 5th - Medusa by Bernini May 12th - The Thinker by Auguste Rodin May 19th - Portrait of a Man by Alexander Calder *Focus is not on the artistic quality of student sketches but on reproducing loosely any observations they made. Stick figures and sloppy sketches are normal here!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a Charlotte Mason home educator with a degree in English and Spanish Literature. I am passionate about science and the humanities, and am excited to share my passion for these subjects with your children!
I believe that students learn best when they do the work of learning. This means that I will do my best to put them in contact with living ideas and facilitate their journey towards a more comprehensive understanding of the subject. I want your students to participate in their own education. Rather than rote memorization, we will utilize first-hand experience and the process of narration (re-telling what they have learned from the lesson). I hope your children will leave my courses inspired and with a greater desire to continue learning!
