Learners will be given informal assessments through Kahoot and Padlet. These are optional for each learner.Class Experience
In this ongoing class, learners will use household items to create specific drawings. Household items can include: ~Anything to draw circles (lids, jars, a compass, etc.) ~Something to draw lines (ruler, straight edge) ~Pencils ~Erasers ~Paper ~Optional, but useful: colored pencils, pens, crayons, or markers Each weekly class will focus on a different type of drawing, including mandalas, optical illusions, cityscapes, and patterns, so learners can join any class at any time! Learners will be able to upload their final drawings and sketches to our class Padlet if they choose. I like for students to engage and interact with me and each other if they choose, so there will be plenty of discussions about shapes within drawings as well as sketching and shading techniques. We will be identifying a variety of 2- and 3-dimensional shapes within drawings while also learning new shapes. We will play short games during some classes so I can assess their learning during the class. Learners do not need to know how to draw already. It would be helpful if they can identify a circle, square, rectangle, and triangle. We will be learning some other shapes specific to each class. Students do need to be able to use a pencil to trace around or draw beside an object, such as a jar lid or a ruler. Week of December 26, 2022: Optical Illusions Week of January 2, 2023: Two-Point Perspective Cityscape Week of January 9, 2023: Abstract Patterns Week of January 16, 2023: Flower Mandala Week of January 23, 2023: Watermelon, Pear, or Apple Week of January 30, 2023: Mountain Landscapes Week of February 6, 2023: Stairs to a Building or House Week of February 13, 2023: Circular Mandala Week of February 20, 2023: Ocean Scene Week of February 27, 2023: One-Point Perspective Cityscape Week of March 6, 2023: Butterfly Mandala Note: Even if two weeks have the same class title, students will receive a slightly different drawing in those two classes.
Learning Goals
Learners will be able to find shapes within objects or pictures to help them create a drawing. They will also learn to use household items as a guide to create their drawings and sketches. Students will learn the differences among drawing, sketching, and shading. They will take their learning and apply it to a final individualized class drawing project.

Parental Guidance
In this ongoing class, we will be utilizing Padlet. Each student will have the option (not required) to upload a picture of their art only to this external resource. They may also type their first name only in the subject line of their art work if they choose to do so, but it is not required in order to participate. There is no need to create an account in order to use my teacher-created Padlet. This resource will only be utilized for this ongoing class and will not be shared with anyone outside of this class of learners. During this ongoing class, I will sometimes screen share the Padlet to show the art work of the learners. This Padlet will be teacher-moderated, which means that each picture will need to be approved by me prior to being posted to the Padlet to ensure the safety of all learners. Parental consent is required for your learner to use this resource in my ongoing class.

I took art classes during my youth and decided that I wanted to continue creating art throughout my life. I use art in every subject I teach in addition to creating hundreds of pieces of art to sell. I have taught art classes and clubs virtually for the last 6 years to students between the ages of 7 and 17. I enjoy creating a variety of art and teaching others to love creating art.
