The ART of Anatomy learners must enroll in Mrs. Brandy's Anatomy class plus Sharon Ross' ART Component by using the following links: 📌 Sharon Ross - ART https://outschool.com/classes/the-art-of-anatomy-:art-component-XANUZ64M?usid=dmMhTMXF&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link 📌 Mrs. Brandy-ANATOMY- https://outschool.com/classes/the-art-of-anatomy-anatomy-component-RikAJdsQ?usid=soSmWolC&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link Welcome to the Anatomy COMPONENT of The Art of Anatomy! Each week we will create illustration of the anatomical structures examined in Mrs. Brandy's ANATOMY COMPONENT Week#1: Cardiac Anatomy with Mrs. Brandy Week#2 : Cardiac Illustration with Ms. Sharon Week #3: Lung Anatomy with Mrs. Brandy Week#4: Lung Illustration with Ms. Sharon Week #5: Integument Anatomy with Mrs. Brandy Week #6: Integument Illustration with Ms. Sharon Week #7: Knee Anatomy with Mrs. Brandy Week #8 : Knee Illustration with Ms. Sharon This class is a collaboration between Mrs. Brandy, a Biology instructor, and Sharon Ross, an instructor of illustration. We will teach in alternate weeks so that your student will get a full view and comprehensive understanding of the anatomic structure that we will be studying. The Anatomic Structures that we will be studying in this class is heart, lungs, integument system(skin), and the knee. Each structure will be identified by labeling of the diagram that is created through illustration. The concepts learned in the biological PowerPoint presentation and discussion with Mrs. Brandy will be enhanced by the drawing instruction of Sharon Ross the following week. The art- anatomy relationship is a powerful one that provides a deeper analysis of the study of Anatomy and Physiology. Anatomic illustration is fundamental tool for students to learn the biological components of Anatomy. The physiological component presented by Mrs. Brandy will involve the instruction of the function of a particular organ or body structure. Mrs. Brandy allows time for students to ask questions and provide comments during her presentation if the student so chooses. If your read the reviews of both teachers, you will notice the words "engaging" and "inspirational" which makes this two-person collaborative teaching team perfect for the continuity of this learning experience. Mrs. Brandy has a degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana. She also has a Master’s degree in Public Health from Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. She has work experience in laboratory research, medical sales, and medical/editing writing. Mrs. Brandy completed coursework in Gross Anatomy, Histology, Biochemistry, Statistics, Cardiology, Pulmonology, and Pharmacology at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH. She was formerly employed by Johnson&Johnson and GlaxoSmithkline. She likes catering to each child’s interests and responding to each question. With a focus on traditional media, old and new art techniques and a core understanding of the principals and elements of art and design, I strive to give learners the tools they need to not only be successful artists but to facilitate the ability to apply those tools to creative thinking and discovery outside the classroom. In this classroom we are co-learners and we explore the course material together. Mrs. Ross is an illustration graduate and published children's book illustrator. She has been very fortunate to have a creative career including work in graphic design, sculpture fabrication, freelance illustration and portrait artist, fine artist with work in art shows and competitions, and art instructor for both children and adults in private studios, homes, community centers, and classrooms. When she isn't sharing her passion for the arts with learners on Outschool, Sharon is creating work to be found in galleries and private collections across Canada and the United States. Sharon's classes are rooted in Reggio philosophies and strives to equip learners with the tools they need to be successful in and out of the classroom. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Science from Xavier University of Louisiana
I’m a native of New Orleans. I am also a joyful homeschool mother of one and a passionate teacher of Biology, Chemistry, and Nutrition. I not only delight in teaching these subjects well but also enjoy creating a fun and stimulating environment in which to learn. Although I teach the hard sciences, I focus on making those academic classes amusing with engaging activities and by adding my sense of humor to the mix.
I enjoy debate, reading, writing well, cooking, and swimming in my spare time. I was a local Scripps-Howard spelling bee champion. I have also won numerous writing awards. I am proud to be on the board of the Catholic Homeschoolers for the Archdiocese of Galveston/Houston.
I have a degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana. I have a Master’s degree in Public Health from Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine with a concentration in Nutrition. I have work experience in laboratory research, medical sales, and medical/editing writing. I completed coursework in Gross Anatomy, Histology, Biochemistry, Statistics, Cardiology, Pulmonology, and Pharmacology at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH. I was formerly employed by Johnson & Johnson and GlaxoSmithkline. I tutor high school biology and I have experience with AP Biology and the Biology CLEP (College Level Examination Program) exam. I like catering to each child’s interests and responding to each question. I am also an ACE Educator.
I do have a loyal following of students and I would like to share the Outschool reviews that has been written about my classes.
Here are a few:
1)This was my daughter's third class with Mrs. Brandy and it certainly won't be her last. She learned a lot about chemistry, including high school terms, in an easy to understand way and had fun while doing so. She enjoyed the camaraderie with the other students, the hands on experiments and the Kahoot. Mrs. Brandy is knowledgeable about her subjects and shares her information in a fun and engaging manner. We highly recommend Mrs. Brandy's classes.-Chemisty for Middle School
2)Mrs. Brandy is fantastic. My daughter was excited to join the classes each week, and was excited to tell me things she learned in class. I will have her take other Mrs. Brandy classes. I am a university professor, and was able to overhear some of the classes, and was really impressed - Mrs. Brandy is a real, professional teacher - a lot of respect for her teaching method and curriculum. I admired her creativity of using candy to illustrate the spine. Thank you Mrs. Brandy! - Biology for Middle School
3)You know it's a good class when your kid comes out of it feeling like an area that they previously thought was too technical and tricky would actually be a possible career choice! Excellent teaching here in the truest sense of the word. -Histology/Microanatomy
