Ms. Stephanie has created this small, multi week art class for first and second graders based on her incredibly popular Kindergarten Art. Each week Ms. Stephanie will lead students through a new and exciting art lesson. Fabulous Firsties and Super Seconds will expand their knowledge of art, make connection to reading, math and science through art and expand their creative experiences in this class. Adults can also expect learners to show growth in their fine motor skills, craftsmanship, attention to details and continue to grow their language and social skills as the class progresses. Each week Ms. Stephanie will lead students through an opening exercise to help us focus and set intentions for our creative making time together. Then, we will dive right into our learning activity inspired by 2-3 artworks by our inspiration artist & focused on a particular element of the week. Ms. Stephanie uses visuals, spoken and hand signs as well as the screen share and physical demonstration techniques to help learners of all learning styles. At the end of class each student will have the opportunity to show and share their work as they are willing and comfortable doing so. Please note: This class is an 8 week course. Topics covered are the same as the ongoing class with a similar title. The difference is in this multi week course students will have the opportunity occasionally work on 2 week projects AND consistently meet with the same group. It is titled session 2 because I create follow up sessions that run throughout the traditional school yr. Parental Guidance
Parents please be aware scissor skills are part of the learning objectives in this class. Please ensure you are available and alert when scissors are being used. Art making can be messy, please ensure student work surfaces are well protected and students dress for mess
Supply List
This is a generic list of materials used regularly in this class. Each week the classroom is updated by Sunday evening 8pm Eastern with the specific supplies you will need for the upcoming class. If you enroll after Sunday evening, you will not be able to see the supply list. I do my very best to repost in those cases, please make sure if you don't see a "repost:" that you send an email to me through Outschool so I can update you directly. watercolor or mixed media paper watercolor paint, tempera, acrylic paint brightly colored construction paper glue stick (I highly recommend UHU glue sticks) scissors black paper colored tissue paper white glue washable markers permanent black marker crayons / oil pastels chalk / chalk pastels paint brushes cardboard glitter glue *Please note, on occasion supplies not on this list will be used and I will update the classroom with those supplies so that you can gather them before class. ** If you do not have specific supplies, please let me know. I often have ideas for suitable substitutes from my years of experience.
