Art Meets Science: The Yellow Seahorses Drawing (Monet & Seahorses)
In his painting The Yellow Irises, Monet painted yellow flowers. In this class, students will make a crayon drawing where we change one flower to a seahorse. Science and art collide as students learn about the life of seahorses and Monet.

*This is the crayon drawing version of this class. Monet's famous painting The Yellow Irises meets Seahorses in this one-time class! We will be discussing Monet, Seahorses, and draw a wonderful mash-up of art and science like the one in the class picture! We will view slides and discuss a short biography about the artist Claude Monet. Where did Monet live? Why did he paint? Then, We will view slides and talk about all things seahorses. Where do seahorses live? What do they eat? Do they do anything strange? Let's find out! The drawing portion will be directed by the teacher with step-by-step directions. There will be four steps to our drawing and (much like how Monet completed drawings in one sitting) it will be completed in this class. We will read a few pages from a "Who Was" biography book while working on the background. Please, find the list of supplies below.
