US Grade 1 - 3
Beginner Level
In this class, I will teach kids how to paint stunning watercolor art while weaving in fun and engaging science lessons about the natural world. Each week, we will cover a unique theme, such as forest animals, ocean life, or bugs, while exploring fascinating facts about habitats, ecosystems, and nature. The class is structured as a step-by-step painting session where I will guide learners through basic watercolor techniques, including blending, layering, and adding details, while sharing scientific insights that tie into the theme. My teaching style is interactive and supportive—I encourage questions, celebrate creativity, and make each session fun and engaging. Learners will have the chance to interact with me throughout the class as I provide feedback on their progress, answer questions, and spark curiosity with interesting facts about the week's topic. Our sessions will be a mix of live demonstrations, guided discussions, and interactive feedback to ensure every learner feels confident and inspired!

Learning Goals

Master Basic Watercolor Techniques:
Students will learn foundational watercolor skills such as blending, layering, and creating textures, enabling them to confidently paint their own creative works.

Learning Needs
None
Parental Guidance
Will we need a container of water for rinsing brushes for each lesson. Please be cautious of whats around in case the containers spill mid class. I recommend using a container that's not too tall or too shallow, so spilling won't be an issue.
Pre-Requisites
Learners should be able to sit through a 50-minute class and follow step-by-step instructions. Basic motor skills for handling a paintbrush and using art supplies are helpful. No prior art experience is required—just a willingness to learn
Supply List
8 color Crayola watercolor set. One small, medium and large paint brush (1/4"/1/2" & 1" - doesn't have to be this specific but around this range for an idea). Watercolor paper size 8"x11". A container of water for rinsing brushes through class, paper towels or reusable washcloths for wiping down brushes between colors used.
