Welcome to Art like the Artist. In this class students will learn about a different artist every class, and have a chance to create an art piece inspired by the artist! Each week, we will spend the first part of class discussing and learning about the artist, who they were , when they lived, what life was like for them, and the style and type of art they made. The second half of the class will be dedicated to an art project created in the same style as the artist we are covering. This class will be a fun, interactive, stress free, accepting and inclusive zone where all of our senses will be used to explore amazing art! Classes are laid back, no student will be put on the spot, and all students will be encouraged to share their thoughts and create what makes them happy. We will be using The Usborne Art Treasury by Rosie Dickins, for the artists and their works. A Schedule of some of the projects and classes we will use are listed below. Week Of April 14th: The Starry Night by Van Gogh Week of April 21st: The great Wave by Hokusai Week Of April 28th: A Winter Scene by Avercamp Week Of May 5th: Punchinello by Picasso Week Of May 12th: African Mask by unknown Artists Week of May 19th: The Golden Fish by Klee
Learning Goals
Students will gain knowledge on many different artists, and new skills and techniques on creating in a myriad of artistic styles.
